Important details for Tuesday night's 25 TT championship.

Marshals.

Sign on: Ade Hughes
Starter: Keith Stacey
Timer: Charles Carraz (and Keith Stacey at finish)
Mere roundabout marshals: Phil Holden, John Barry, Doug Coombes, Harry Davies
Swineyard roundabout: David Hoyle, Mike Kilburn, Bob McPartland, Roy Waters
Swineyard/A50 junction: Ellie Turton, Philip Lovel, Nicholas Wheeler
Truckstop roundabout: John Hammond, Gordon Peake, Keith Bailey, Robin Haigh.

First rider off at 7pm. Please be in place by then.
If you don't have a hi-viz jacket please collect one from Bears Paw lay-by.

The route is as follows:

Club 25 route

Start on A50 just after the junction with Crabtree Lane near Orchard Service Station
Ride in an Easterly direction on A50 for approximately 2.40 miles and circle the roundabout
Ride in a westerly direction on A50 and turn left into Swineyard Lane after approximately 4.95 miles
Ride in a southerly direction on Swineyard Lane until first roundabout after approximately 8.10 miles and circle the roundabout
Ride in a northerly direction on Swineyard Lane until reach A50 again at approximately 11.35 miles, turn left
Ride in a westerly direction on A50 until truck stop roundabout at 12.90 miles, circle roundabout
Ride in an easterly direction on A50 until roundabout at approximately 16.95 miles, circle roundabout
Ride in a westerly direction on A50 and turn left into Swineyard Lane after approximately 19.50 miles
Ride in a southerly direction on Swineyard Lane until first roundabout after approximately 22.70 miles and circle the roundabout
Ride in northerly direction on Swineyard Lane for approximately 2.30 miles until reach finish at 25 miles at a very minor road
junction (Heath Lane) on the left with a triangular grass area.

HAZARDS

• Traffic (warning signs alerting motorist on approach to junctions and roundabouts / marshals in high-viz jackets
at start, finish, roundabouts and A50/Swineyard junction / all riders must have rear lights / all riders strongly encouraged to have
flashing front lights and to wear helmets / hi-viz numbers on back of jerseys)
• Potentially bad weather/poor visibility (warning signs alerting motorist on approach to junctions and roundabouts / marshals
in high-viz jackets at start, finish, roundabouts and A50/Swineyard junction / all riders must have rear lights / all riders strongly
encouraged to have flashing front lights and to wear helmets / hi-viz numbers on back of jerseys)
• A50/Swineyard Lane junction Riders must not cross central white line on Swineyard when entering or exiting;
when turning left from Swineyard onto A50 riders must keep tight and not pull out wide onto A50 - a chalk line will be drawn on the road surface
and any rider crossing this line will be DQd .
• Roundabouts (riders must not use aerobars on any of the roundabouts; any rider using aerobars on roundabouts will be DQd).

Barbara has given me lots of Nigel’s cycling kit which she would like to go to a good home (in exchange for a donation to the
British Heart Foundation).

I already have 20 entries for the "Tour of the Berwyns 200k" (current Covid limit is 30) and it's filling up fast.
I may have to retain the 30 limit - so riders need to enter ASAP to get a place.

Still about 20 places left on the "Panorama Prospect 130k."

The 2021 Seamons Evening Road Race has been sanctioned by TLI Cycling, and will take place at 7pm on Tuesday
22nd June on the Siddington course
.
The race HQ is Siddington Village Hall.

The 22nd is the day following the expected final easing of the Covid-19 restrictions, and will therefore be one of the first road races
to take place for more than a year, and will be the first Seamons race for 3 years. Sadly, it will be the first event
since the death of Nigel Harrop, long time club member, Chairman and President, supporter and organiser of the Seamons race,
and director of TLI Cycling.

We owe it to Nigel to make a sucess of this race, which has always been popular with riders and is sure to be oversubscribed.

We therefore need the full support of members of Seamons, especially those with experience in race organisaton, and newer
members willing to take experience from and enjoy the event.

We need:
Marshals for the 8 marshalling points and finish area,
3 lead cars with drivers and observers,
Minimum 2 finish line judges,
Sign on officer and helper,
Catering to prepare and serve 100+ post race snacks,
Supporters to cheer and encourage the riders.

Can Seamons members please consider how they can best support the race and let me
know what they would like to volunteer for.

The Club Wednesday Night Ten Series is due to start on April 14th and will be subject to strict COVID-19 Guidelines

Additional signing on instructions are provided for competitors on the Club Ten Calendar Page: Club Ten Calendar
and for Marshals, Time Keepers and Sign On Supervisor in Documents Docs (printed guidelines also available on the night)

Competitors not following these guidelines may be denied entry to the event or find their result is void

Following the latest Government advice, The Committee are delighted to be able to reintroduce Club Runs.

From the 29th March Club Runs can start again though there remains some restrictions.
Official advice says groups are limited to a maximum of 15 however the Committee would prefer members to keep to groups of 6 or as close to as possible.

Riders should also follow guidance on hygiene, equipment sharing and be self sufficient.
There is also a requirement to maintain a 1 metre distance rule Groups intending to stop at a cafe need to be in groups of 6 or less.

Please check that the cafe is open and can accommodate you.

Meeting points, all rides depart at 9 a.m. –

Half Day – Rackhams upper level (steps)
T2 – Hale Train Station car park
T3 – OBW
T4/Social – Hale Train Station Car Park (Hale Road End)

T1 –TBC

Yesterday we had a lovely celebration of Nigel's life with those close family and friends who were able to attend, sharing stories and memories and remembering the good times.
We would like to say a massive thank you to all those who contributed. Due to Covid restrictions we know a lot of people were unable to be there who otherwise would have been with us. We have put together a memorial booklet celebrating Nigel’s life,
if anyone would like a pdf copy please email Amy at akeharrop@gmail.com and we’d be more than happy to send this over.

It is with great sadness I have to report the news of Nigel Harrop’s passing.

Nigel was a club stalwart, a great Chairman, friend and clubman, and will be missed by all of his cycling colleagues.

He was for several years our very active Chairman, a keen time-triallist and road racer, and until recently organised the club’s annual road race.

In recent years Nigel was also a key figure in the development and success of TLI Cycling.

On behalf of all club members, thank you for all you have done, Nigel.

Our love and condolences go to wife Barbara, and children Amy and Jack.

It's the time of year again when membership fees are due for renewal, and they are beginning to trickle in already,

Unfortunately, its come at not the best time, but here's hoping for a better year of cycling as the spring approaches.

If you're paying by Standing Order then you don't need to do anything.
Otherwise, especially this year, I'd prefer fees are transferred directly into the account.
