Whatever you are looking for, whether it’s a friendly group of like-minded people to ride with on a Sunday, an opportunity to shed some weight and get fit or a chance to move on to full blown competition riding, Seamons CC has something for everyone. There’s a common misconception that you have to be a super fit cycling machine to join a cycling club. That’s just not so and we cater for all levels of cyclist. Having said that what you will probably find if you do join us is that your fitness will improve dramatically as will your riding ability and bike handling skills. If you’re already a cyclist and want to take that next step, joining Seamons CC could be just what you are looking for.

There are a number of ways for you to join the club. You could come along to the clubroom (see below) on a Friday night and have a chat with some of the members or you could head down to Rackhams on a Sunday morning (click here) and tag on to one of the rides just to see how you get on. For more details or to ask about club membership please contact our membership secretary, who will be more than happy to discuss your aspirations and talk through the various options with you. Click Membership on the left of this page for their details.

See below for further details of club activities.

Competition

Although Seamons is traditionally a time trialing club we have members competing in most disciplines of the sport including track, mountain biking, road racing and of course time trialing. Pictured is Sean Davenport competing here in the 2011 Seamons CC Championship Hill Climb.

If you're new to the sport and fancy trying your hand at competition why not come along to our weekly 10 mile time trials which are held throughout the summer months. There's a small charge of £2 for CTT affiliated members and £3 for others.

Touring section

The bedrock of any ‘proper’ cycling club is its touring section. With regular weekly runs of up to eighty miles leaving from Altrincham, complemented by car-assisted days out and weekends away, there’s something for everyone.

Pictured are just a few of the "tourers" about to set off on the Tour of the Berwyns.

Social

Our social activities revolve around regular Friday clubnights where members meet for chat and tea. Most of our members go for something a bit stronger afterwards at The Old Market Tavern nearby. Our club room is the Scout hut behind Saint George's church where you’ll also find a table tennis table and darts.

As well as this we have several weekends away during the year in various guises. These usually involve cycling (of course) but are also a great opportunity to socialise with other club members. We also hold the odd ad hoc social event now and again like a curry night or a quiz night.

A number of traditional events make up the rest of the social calendar throughout the year including a number of fun "10" events, our traditional Christmas hotpot and of course our formal annual dinner and prize giving ceremony.

Check out our calendar page to keep up to date with the latest events.
