Altrincham Cycling Club

Welcome to the Seamons Cycling Club website. We are a traditional cycling club based in Altrincham, Cheshire
and have members who take part in all aspects of the pastime and sport

Seamons CC have rides suitable for all levels of rider (see below for more detail). All our rides (club runs) leave from Hale Station every Sunday at 9:00am. Destinations are planned in advance and can be viewed on our calendar pages here.

New riders are more than welcome to come along on a Sunday and try a club run two or three times to see how they get on. After joining us on a few runs the expectation would be for you to apply to join the club.

Each one of our Sunday rides is open to members and guests. Should you opt to change from your usual groups for a ride, it is essential that you observe the guidelines for the group you have joined. You must bring with you easily accessible emergency contact details, sufficient food / drink for your intended route, phone, working pump and at least one inner tube and tyre levers. Accidents and mechanicals happen - be prepared!

All groups are expected to ride safely, showing respect for one another and for other road users. This includes care at all junctions and safely regrouping following any hazard or challenging climb. It is good practise to exchange your mobile number with at least one other ride member, in case you loose contact with the group.

For reasons of safety, and as a courtesy to other road users, the club limits any Sunday riding group to 20 members. If more than that number is present, reallocation / reorganisation will take place at Rackhams or, if necessary, at a convenient stop soon after the beginning of the ride. This will be done by a Seamons Committee member or, if none is present in that group, by a senior / experienced Club member.

All riders should familiarise themselves with the Organised Ride Guidance document in the docs section.

This is our entry level ride and caters for newer but regular cyclists who wish to experience Club group riding. Rides are less demanding than the other club runs and are taken at a more gentle pace. All have a designated Seamons CC member as coordinator and are around 30-40 miles.

TEMPO 4 : Self Supported - Destinations on Club Website

For members who have enjoyed riding with the social section, feel comfortable riding in a group and now feel ready for the challenge of a regular and steady run but generally at a shorter distance than TEMPO 3.

TEMPO 1: Self Supported - Destinations on Club Website
TEMPO 2: As Above but at a slightly gentler pace - Destinations on Club Website & routes on "Ride with GPS"
TEMPO 3: As above but at a slightly gentler pace than TEMPO 2 - Destinations on Club Website

These runs are our intermediate level rides and contain mainly experienced riders. They are usually around 50 -75 miles and always take in a cafe stop. To take part you need a moderate to good level of cycling fitness. The rides aim to maintain an average speed of around 16-18 mph, returning around 1-2 pm.

HALF DAY: Self Supported - Destinations on Club Website

These runs are our fastest and contain many competition riders. You will be expected to have a high level of cycling fitness. If you can ride in reasonable comfort on your own for 30 miles at an average speed of 18 mph, then you should have the required level of fitness to stay with the group. Rides are usually 55-75 miles, always take in a cafe stop and may speed up considerably towards the end.
